Kernels and modules¶
The file /etc/modules configures which loadable modules are automatically loaded. Here is a sample:
To view a list of loadable kernel modules on a system, as well as their status, run:
lsmod
# or
cat /proc/modules
To see a list of the module files:
modprobe –list # or find /lib/modules/uname -r -type f -name “*.ko”
To load a module, and any modules that it depends on, use modprobe:
modprobe <module>
Remove a module from the Linux Kernel:
rmmod <module>
Finding more info about any module or driver:
modinfo <module|driver>
Install the lastest kernel headers:
apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
